The Disappearance of Alexander Evan Glenn
Alexander Evan Glenn was 28 years old when he disappeared from northern Wisconsin in July 2017. Glenn was associated with Niagara, Wisconsin, and had also lived in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 22, Glenn was at Morgan Lake Campground in Florence County. According to law enforcement accounts reported at the time, an argument occurred and Glenn walked away from the campground at approximately 3:00 a.m.
He never returned.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s missing-person listing states that Glenn was last seen walking out of the U.S. Forest Service Morgan Lake Campground and has not been seen or heard from since.
What Alexander Glenn Was Wearing
Contemporary reports described Glenn as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 140 pounds, with brown hair and gray or hazel eyes. He was reportedly wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and boots when he disappeared.
There are minor discrepancies among later missing-person listings. The current Wisconsin missing-person poster lists Glenn at 5 feet 10 inches and 150 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes, while The Charley Project lists him at 140 pounds with hazel eyes.
Because these descriptions differ, anyone attempting to identify Glenn should rely on photographs and the full range of identifying information provided by law enforcement rather than a single eye-color or weight description.
Glenn Was Reported Missing
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office was notified of Glenn’s disappearance after he walked away from the campground. Early news coverage reported that authorities began seeking information about his whereabouts within days of his disappearance.
The case initially differed from some missing-person investigations because authorities did not publicly indicate that they believed Glenn had been abducted or had encountered foul play.
Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby told TV6 in August 2017 that investigators considered Glenn a “voluntary missing person.” The sheriff said at that time that foul play was not believed to be a likely factor, although the investigation remained open.
That assessment was made during the original 2017 investigation and should not be interpreted as proof of what ultimately happened to Glenn.
Pending Criminal Cases and the Arrest Warrant
An unusual element of Glenn’s disappearance was his legal situation at the time.
According to 2017 reporting based on Wisconsin court records, Glenn had a pending Marinette County criminal case involving three felony counts of possession of child pornography. He was scheduled to attend a pretrial conference after his disappearance but failed to appear. A bench warrant was then issued for his arrest.
The Daily News also reported that Glenn faced separate felony charges involving possession of a firearm as a person previously convicted of an out-of-state felony and possession of a short-barreled shotgun or rifle.
These were criminal allegations and pending charges reported at the time of Glenn’s disappearance. They should not be presented as convictions on those charges.
Investigators did not publicly state that the criminal cases proved why Glenn disappeared. However, the pending proceedings were one circumstance authorities and news organizations documented shortly after he vanished.
Was Alexander Glenn Running Away?
The possibility that Glenn intentionally disappeared received attention because of the timing of the pending court proceedings.
In August 2017, TV6 described the criminal case and upcoming court appearance as a possible explanation for the disappearance. Sheriff Rickaby said authorities regarded Glenn as voluntarily missing at that stage.
There is nevertheless an important distinction between an investigative theory and an established fact.
Publicly available information does not establish where Glenn went after leaving Morgan Lake Campground, whether he intended to remain missing permanently, or what happened to him after he walked away.
No publicly documented contact with Glenn after the campground sighting has been identified in the sources reviewed for this article.
Latest Information on the Alexander Glenn Investigation
Alexander Glenn remains listed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Clearinghouse for Missing & Exploited Children & Adults. The current state listing gives his missing date as July 22, 2017, identifies Long Lake in Florence County as his last known location, and lists his current age as 37.
The state’s current missing-person poster also identifies his NamUs case as MP62390 and continues asking anyone with information to contact the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Stoppers or Wisconsin’s missing-person clearinghouse.
The Charley Project added/updated its case information on May 22, 2025 and continues to classify Glenn as missing. Its case summary states that the disappearance remains open and unsolved.
There was also a correction to a longstanding age discrepancy in online missing-person information. A January 2025 Websleuths discussion documented that a contributor contacted Florence County about sources incorrectly listing Glenn as 18 when he disappeared. The contributor reported that NamUs subsequently corrected his age. This is a community-source report rather than an official investigative announcement, but the current Wisconsin DOJ information supports an age of 28 at disappearance: Glenn is now listed as 37 after disappearing in 2017.
As of the latest publicly available information reviewed, no credible law-enforcement announcement was found reporting that Glenn has been located, identifying a confirmed sighting after July 22, 2017, announcing an arrest connected to his disappearance, or reclassifying the case as a homicide.
The publicly available record therefore remains largely where it began: Alexander Glenn walked away from Morgan Lake Campground during the early morning hours of July 22, 2017, and what happened afterward remains unknown.
