Detailed Case Breakdown
The Disappearance of Sierra Raye Mullin in Anchorage, Alaska
Sierra Raye Mullin, also publicly identified as Sierra Raye Roberts, disappeared in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2008. More than 18 years later, her whereabouts remain unknown, and her case continues to be listed as an active missing-person investigation.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System lists Sierra under NamUs case MP19740. The federal database gives March 4, 2008, as her date of last contact and identifies Anchorage as the location from which she disappeared. Sierra was approximately 25 years old at the time, stood about five feet tall and weighed approximately 105 pounds. She had brown hair and was identified as White.
Conflicting Dates Complicate the Case
One of the most important issues in Sierra’s case is the uncertainty surrounding the official disappearance date.
Although March 4, 2008, remains the date recorded by NamUs, secondary case summaries citing Alaska records report that Sierra had three encounters with law enforcement after that date. Those reported contacts include arrests on June 12 and July 30, 2008, followed by a seatbelt citation on December 4, 2008.
These later contacts suggest that March 4 may represent the date initially supplied in the missing-person report rather than Sierra’s final confirmed sighting. Based on the publicly reported police activity, December 4, 2008, may be the last documented indication that she was alive. However, NamUs has not publicly changed its recorded last-contact date.
It is unclear why the discrepancy remains or when Sierra was formally reported missing.
Sierra’s Background and Reported Vulnerability
Publicly available descriptions of Sierra’s life before she vanished are limited. Some secondary accounts state that she experienced drug dependency, prostitution and exploitation. These circumstances may have placed her at elevated risk of violence, coercion or trafficking, but they do not establish what ultimately happened to her.
Sierra was reportedly listed as a witness in a criminal case involving Anchorage businessman Josef F. Boehm. Boehm was accused of providing drugs or money in exchange for sexual activity with girls and young women. This connection has prompted speculation that Sierra’s disappearance could have been related to people involved in Anchorage’s drug trade or commercial sexual exploitation.
No law-enforcement agency has publicly identified Boehm as responsible for Sierra’s disappearance. Any suggested connection should therefore be treated as an investigative theory rather than an established fact.
Other Theories Surrounding the Disappearance
Online discussions and true-crime programs have also questioned whether Sierra could have encountered serial killer Israel Keyes, who lived in Anchorage during the period surrounding her disappearance. That possibility has generated public interest because of Keyes’s movements and his history of targeting people without an obvious personal connection.
There is no publicly disclosed physical evidence, confession or official law-enforcement statement connecting Keyes to Sierra. The theory remains speculative and should not be presented as a confirmed development in the investigation.
Other possibilities include an accidental death, an unidentified homicide, leaving Alaska voluntarily, or violence associated with drugs, exploitation or people in Sierra’s social environment. Authorities have not publicly announced evidence proving any of these scenarios.
Current Status of the Investigation
As of August 2026, Sierra remains publicly listed as missing in NamUs under case number MP19740. The case page remains available, and current case aggregators continue to classify the disappearance as active. No arrest, recovery of remains, confirmed sighting or publicly announced identification has resolved the case.
There also appears to be no recent publicly released investigative bulletin describing new searches, forensic testing, suspects or evidence. The absence of a public update does not necessarily mean that investigators have stopped working on the case; agencies commonly withhold information that could affect interviews, evidence evaluation or future prosecution.
The most consequential unresolved issue remains the timeline. Determining Sierra’s activities, associates and whereabouts after March 4—and particularly around her reported December 4, 2008, police contact—could help establish a more reliable starting point for the investigation.
Continuing Search for Answers
Anyone who knew Sierra in 2008, saw her after December 4 of that year, or has information about the people with whom she was living, traveling or working may possess information investigators need.
Even details that once seemed insignificant—an address, vehicle, telephone number, nickname, employer, motel, party, medical visit or conversation—could help reconstruct her final known movements.
Sierra Raye Mullin has not been legally or publicly confirmed as a homicide victim. She remains a missing woman whose disappearance has never been adequately explained. Until reliable evidence establishes otherwise, the central questions remain the same: where did Sierra go after her final documented contacts, who was with her, and why has no verified trace of her emerged?
