Hari Krishna Reddy Karasani: Texas Student Missing After Solo Trip to Healy, Alaska

Hari Krishna Reddy Karasani disappeared during a solo winter trip to Alaska in the final days of 2025. The 24-year-old student, who was living in Texas and originally came from Andhra Pradesh, India, was last seen leaving the Aurora Denali Lodge in Healy, Alaska, on December 31, 2025.

More than seven months later, his whereabouts remain unknown.

A Solo Trip to Alaska

Hari traveled from Houston, Texas, to Fairbanks, Alaska, on December 22, 2025. He was traveling alone and did not have a vehicle.

Friends said Hari had told them that he planned to return to Texas in early January. His decision to travel alone to Alaska surprised people close to him. Friends later described the trip as unusual for Hari, saying he was not someone who normally traveled extensively.

After arriving in Alaska, Hari traveled to the Healy area near Denali National Park and stayed at the Aurora Denali Lodge.

The Final Known Days

There are minor discrepancies among published accounts concerning exactly when Hari’s family last communicated with him. The Alaska State Troopers’ missing-person bulletin states that his family last spoke with him by phone on December 30, while the state’s later Daily Dispatch says he had not contacted family or friends after December 29.

Other reporting indicates that a friend communicated with Hari on December 30.

What authorities have consistently established is that Hari was last seen leaving the Aurora Denali Lodge in Healy on December 31, 2025.

According to information associated with his NamUs case, Hari checked out of the lodge at approximately 10:00 a.m. that day. He was traveling alone without a vehicle.

Hari Fails to Return to Texas

Hari was expected to return to Texas around January 4 or January 5, 2026. When friends and family could no longer reach him and he failed to return as expected, concern rapidly increased.

He was officially reported missing on January 3, 2026.

Alaska State Troopers issued a missing-person bulletin and asked anyone who had seen Hari or knew where he might have gone to contact investigators.

Authorities described him as approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 130 to 135 pounds, with black hair and brown or black eyes. He wears glasses.

Questions About His Transportation

One of the central mysteries is what happened after Hari left the lodge.

He did not have his own vehicle and was believed to be traveling on foot or relying on other transportation.

Published reports have discussed a credit-card transaction connected to Lyft around the time of his disappearance. Some reporting has described the transaction as disputed, while other coverage indicated investigators were examining transportation information to determine whether Hari may have traveled toward Fairbanks.

Because authorities have not publicly released a complete investigative file, reports concerning the Lyft transaction should not be treated as proof of Hari’s destination or proof that another person was involved.

The fundamental question remains unanswered: Where did Hari go after leaving the Aurora Denali Lodge?

Extreme Alaska Winter Conditions

Hari disappeared during one of the most dangerous times of year to be outdoors in Interior Alaska.

News reports covering his disappearance described temperatures reaching approximately 40 degrees below zero in the region. The combination of extreme cold, snow, limited daylight and remote terrain created serious concerns for Hari’s safety, particularly because he was traveling without a vehicle.

His disappearance generated appeals from friends, members of the Telugu community and supporters who sought additional resources and coordination among Alaska, Texas and federal authorities.

A public petition calling for expanded multi-state assistance eventually attracted thousands of signatures.

Latest Investigation Information

As of the most recent substantive reporting located in July and August 2026, Hari remains missing.

A July 22, 2026 report marking more than 200 days since his disappearance stated that there had been no confirmed sightings and no physical evidence publicly reported as having been found. Authorities had not announced evidence establishing foul play, and investigators had not determined what happened to him.

The unanswered questions continue to include why Hari chose to make the unexpected solo trip to Alaska, where he intended to go after leaving the lodge, how he planned to travel without a vehicle, and whether anyone encountered him after he left Healy.

The case continued receiving public attention into August 2026. A missing-person program released August 3 revisited Hari’s disappearance and reported that despite search efforts and public appeals, he still had not been located.

There is currently no publicly established evidence that Hari was the victim of a homicide, and the Alaska State Troopers continue to identify his case as a missing-person matter.
