Missy Bevers is actually Terri Leann Bevers and she was a fitness instructor who taught early-morning “Camp Gladiator” workout classes. She was well known in her community and active on social media, often posting motivational content and workout plans.
– On April 18, 2016, Missy arrived at the Creekside Church of Christ around 4:20 a.m. to set up for a 5:00 a.m. fitness class.
– Shortly after, she was attacked and killed inside the church.
– When class participants arrived, they found her unresponsive and called 911.
The official cause of death was multiple puncture wounds, believed to be inflicted with a sharp object.
Surveillance Footage
One of the most haunting aspects of the case is security camera video released by police:
The footage shows a person inside the church before the murder, dressed in police-style tactical gear, including:
– Helmet
– Vest labeled “POLICE”
– Gloves
The person appears to be wandering calmly, opening doors and breaking glass with a hammer-like tool.
Key details:
– The suspect’s face is fully obscured
– The person’s gait and posture sparked debate about whether they were male or female
– No clear weapon used in the murder is visible on camera
This footage has been central to public interest and speculation.
Suspect Information
– Police believe the killer was targeting Missy specifically, not committing a random burglary.
– Nothing significant was stolen from the church.
– Investigators have not named a suspect publicly.
Police stated early on that her husband was cooperative and not considered a suspect.
Missy’s husband, Brandon Bevers, was out of state on a fishing trip at the time.
Theories
Common theories discussed publicly include:
– A personal motive (someone who knew Missy or her routine)
– A planned ambush, given the timing and disguise
– A suspect attempting to impersonate law enforcement to avoid suspicion
Despite widespread speculation online, no theory has been confirmed.

Police also released parking lot footage “from SWFA Outdoors… a couple of hours before Missy Bevers’ murder.” The video shows a light-colored Nissan Altima circling the lot and, at one point, turning its headlights off and on.
