Police say Vincent was last seen during the early morning hours of July 11, 2015, near 31st Street South and Hydraulic Avenue in Wichita. He was reportedly with his father, who was carrying a blue-and-white floral diaper bag. That was the last confirmed sighting of the infant.


On July 11, 2015, four-month-old Vincent Moore disappeared in Wichita, Kansas, in a case that has remained unsolved for more than a decade. Despite numerous interviews, search efforts, public appeals, and continued investigation by the Wichita Police Department’s Cold Case Unit, Vincent has never been found.

The case continues to receive national attention through missing child organizations, annual public appeals, and law enforcement reminders that investigators are still actively seeking information.

What Happened to Vincent Moore?

Vincent Moore was born in early 2015 and disappeared during a visitation with his father, Gary McKensey Moore Jr.

According to investigators, Vincent’s mother, Michelle Mendez, dropped Vincent and his older brother off with their father on June 5, 2015, for visitation. During the following weeks, Gary Moore reportedly traveled with both children to Texas before returning to Wichita on July 9. Throughout that period, Mendez repeatedly attempted to contact him but was unable to do so.

Police say Vincent was last seen during the early morning hours of July 11, 2015, near 31st Street South and Hydraulic Avenue in Wichita. He was reportedly with his father, who was carrying a blue-and-white floral diaper bag. That was the last confirmed sighting of the infant.

Investigation

Authorities became increasingly concerned after Vincent’s father was stopped by police on July 29, 2015. Vincent’s older brother was with him, but Vincent was not.

Gary Moore reportedly told investigators he had returned Vincent to his mother. Michelle Mendez has consistently denied that claim and told investigators she never saw her son again. Investigators stated she cooperated with the investigation, including taking a polygraph examination.

Search warrants, interviews, and ground searches followed throughout Wichita and surrounding areas. Law enforcement has never publicly announced that Vincent was located or that anyone has been charged in connection with his disappearance.

Latest Investigation Update

The investigation remains active.

The Wichita Police Department continues to classify Vincent Moore as a missing and endangered child. The department periodically renews public appeals asking anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward.

The case is currently handled by the Wichita Police Department’s Cold Case Unit, and Vincent remains listed by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, The Charley Project, and The Doe Network. As of the latest publicly available information, investigators have announced no arrests, no recovery of Vincent, and no public resolution of the case.

On the June 5, 2015 little Baby Vincent Moore was dropped off at his biological father’s residence along with his older brother for a visitation. When the children’s mother Michelle Mendez made several different attempts to contact their father Gary Moore Jr. It was apparent to the local authorities that Gary was on the run, with the children. Wichita Police Captain Jeff Weible stated in a interview that in Mid-June Moore was confirmed to be in Texas with both of the children. And would come back to Wichita on July 9, 2015. Gary Moore was stopped by the local authorities on July 29, 2015 and was taken into custody, from unrelated chargers at the time of his arrest the older son was in the car with him but Vincent was no where to be seen. The Wichita Police Department has made several different searches in hopes of finding Baby Vincent. His mother had fully cooperate with the investigation in every aspect including taking lie detector test for which she has passed. Gary Moore Jr. has tried to pull the blame towards Michelle Mendez when being interviewed but stating that he left the state with his children to go to Texas and keep the children away from their Mother. Gary Moore Jr was suppose to be on a GPS bracelet from a prior battery case from 2014 involving the boy’s mother. According to the court documents Gary had cut off and removed the GPS bracelet around 4:45 A.M. on June 9. Sedgwick County District Court records show a history of violence between Gary Moore Jr and they boy’s mother, as well as documents outlining the mother’s concern over children’s welfare when they are Moore’s presence. The day after Michelle Mendez was suffering from a beating and choking at the hands of Gary Moore Jr. that resulted in three misdemeanors battery convictions in October , Michelle Mendez petition the court for a protective order saying, that Moore becomes “rougher than his intends to (with the kids) when he is angry and they misbehave”. “He’s never intentionally hurt them,” “but he is rougher than he intends to be when he’s angry. Gray Moore Jr. remains in jail at this time. The family of Baby Vincent Moore has held several different pray vigils trying to keep his face and name in the public eye so that people won’t forget that he is still missing.
