The contributor alleged that investigators and others familiar with the case suspected she may have been killed in retaliation for that cooperation. The post further claimed that Julia’s last known contact involved a confidential informant and that rumors over the years suggested her remains may have been placed in Lake Michigan.

These allegations are important leads in the public discussion surrounding Julia’s case, but they should not be treated as established facts. I found no publicly accessible law-enforcement statement, court document or established news report independently confirming that Julia was a confidential informant, that retaliation was the motive for her disappearance, that identified drug associates are official suspects, or that investigators have concluded her remains were placed in Lake Michigan.

Questions Raised by a 2020 Court Entry

Another unusual issue surfaced through the Websleuths discussion. A contributor reported finding a July 16, 2020 Wisconsin court entry involving a person identified as Julia A. O’Neill. According to text the contributor said was copied from Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, the state moved to dismiss an action because the defendant was deceased.

The contributor later said the underlying record was no longer available and acknowledged not having retained a screenshot. Other participants questioned whether the court record necessarily involved the same Julia O’Neill.

Without the underlying court record and independent confirmation of identity, the entry cannot reliably establish that Julia had been legally declared dead or that investigators know she died. Most importantly, Wisconsin’s current official missing-person system continues to list Julia as missing.
