Unsolved Mystery: The Disappearance of Meredith Ann Medina
MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma โ The case of Meredith Ann Medina, a 16-year-old girl who vanished on February 14, 1989, remains an unresolved mystery decades later. Despite ongoing interest from family members, community advocates, and cold case investigators, there has been no definitive resolution or public breakthrough in the search for Meredith or answers about what happened to her.
Meredith was last seen at her familyโs residence in Midwest City, Oklahoma, on Valentineโs Day in 1989. Authorities list her as an endangered runaway, though the circumstances of her disappearance have left unanswered questions among her family and those following the case.
At the time of her disappearance, Meredith was described as a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She had a noticeable scar on the left side of her forehead, pierced ears, and may wear eyeglasses. Law enforcement agencies believe she left her home on that day โ but no confirmed sightings, confirmed contacts, or substantiated leads have emerged since.
The Midwest City Police Department remains the primary investigating agency and continues to accept tips or information from the public. Case files indicate that Meredith was reported missing several days after her last sighting, which is typical in runaway classifications, but the delay may have impacted early investigative opportunities.
Complicating public interest in Meredithโs disappearance is the earlier unsolved case of her stepmother, Nancy Jean Medina, who vanished in 1984 under suspicious circumstances in Oklahoma City. Nancyโs vehicle was later found stripped and abandoned, and while authorities have neither solved her disappearance nor officially linked it to Meredithโs, the coincidence of two missing family members has fueled long-standing speculation about possible connections.
Despite community outreach efforts โ including postings on missing persons platforms like NamUs and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which maintains Meredithโs information with a current age progression โ there is no public indication that the case has been advanced by significant new evidence this year.
Current Investigation Status
There is no confirmed suspect, no known evidence that places her beyond her last known location, and no solid link to her stepmotherโs disappearance โ though some individuals and advocacy groups have speculated on possible connections.
If you have information that might help investigators or to view official details, you can contact the Midwest City Police Department (405) 739-1388 or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children with Meredith Ann Medinaโs case reference.
