Brief Case Summary

Last Seen: February 20, 2024
Location: Harrisburg area, Pennsylvania; last reported leaving a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store on Union Deposit Road
Age When Missing: 54
NamUs: MP118770
Other Name: Tracy Zalenski

Main circumstances: Scanlon traveled from Allegheny County to the Harrisburg area in February 2024 and was temporarily staying in Susquehanna Township. Her last known contact was February 20. After she disappeared, investigators searched a residence and vehicles connected to a man she had been staying with, conducted a major search of waterways in York County, and ultimately announced that her disappearance was being investigated as a homicide.

Authorities have not publicly announced the recovery of Scanlon’s remains or a criminal charge against anyone for causing her disappearance or presumed death.

Tracy Scanlon Travels to Central Pennsylvania

Scanlon was originally from Allegheny County in western Pennsylvania. According to reports based on the police investigation, she left the Pittsburgh area on February 7, 2024, and traveled to the Harrisburg area.

She was temporarily staying in the 3300 block of Union Deposit Road in Susquehanna Township with an acquaintance identified in court documents and news reports as Anthony Proctor.

Scanlon reportedly intended to return to the Pittsburgh area around March 1. She never made that return trip.

Last Known Sighting on February 20, 2024

Investigators ultimately established February 20, 2024, as Scanlon’s last known date of contact.

Police said she was last seen leaving a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store on Union Deposit Road in the Harrisburg area. After that date, family members and friends were unable to contact her.

Her disappearance was initially reported to the Millvale Police Department in Allegheny County. Once investigators determined that she had traveled to central Pennsylvania, Susquehanna Township Police became heavily involved in determining what happened to her.

Missing-Person Investigation Becomes a Homicide Investigation

By May 3, 2024, Susquehanna Township Police publicly announced that the investigation surrounding Scanlon’s disappearance had become a homicide investigation.

Authorities said they believed Scanlon was deceased, although police did not publicly disclose all of the evidence that led them to that conclusion.

The investigation remained centered in Dauphin County, with Susquehanna Township Police working with law-enforcement agencies in Allegheny County and other jurisdictions.

Search Warrants and Evidence Recovered

Court documents later provided additional information about the investigation.

Investigators executed search warrants at the Walnut Crossings Apartments residence where Scanlon had been staying and searched four vehicles belonging to Anthony Proctor. A cadaver dog was also used during the search of the residence.

According to search-warrant records reported by local media, investigators recovered items that included a stained towel, hair, a note and gold bracelets. Police also reportedly recovered a receipt dated February 20 from a wine and liquor store from one of the vehicles.

The presence or seizure of an item does not by itself establish that it is connected to a homicide, and authorities have not publicly disclosed the complete forensic results associated with the evidence.

Investigation of Tracy Scanlon’s EBT Card

Investigators also examined activity involving Scanlon’s Pennsylvania benefits card.

According to court documents, police alleged that Proctor used Scanlon’s EBT card. He subsequently faced charges connected with the alleged unauthorized use of the card, including identity-related and fraud offenses.

Those allegations were separate from the homicide investigation. Public reporting at the time specifically noted that Proctor had not been charged with Scanlon’s disappearance or presumed death.

Court records and news reports also noted that Proctor had a previous homicide conviction dating to the 1990s. That prior conviction does not establish responsibility for Scanlon’s disappearance.

Investigators Question Account That Scanlon Went to Philadelphia

Court documents revealed another detail investigators examined.

According to the documents, an acquaintance told investigators that Proctor had said Scanlon took a train to Philadelphia. Police investigated that account but reported that they could not verify an Amtrak ticket purchase by either Scanlon or Proctor corresponding with that explanation.

Authorities continued treating Scanlon’s disappearance as a homicide investigation.

Massive York County Search

On May 3, 2024, approximately 100 personnel from numerous agencies participated in a large-scale search for evidence connected to Scanlon.

Teams searched roughly 10 miles of the Little Conewago and Conewago creeks, beginning in Conewago Township and continuing toward York Haven. Searchers examined both land and water and used specialized resources including dogs and drones.

The operation lasted nearly seven hours.

Susquehanna Township Police later said the search did not produce a definitive discovery. Authorities indicated that investigative and search efforts would continue.

Latest Publicly Available Investigation Information

As of September 21, 2026, publicly searchable information continues to identify Tracy Scanlon as the subject of the February 20, 2024 disappearance from Harrisburg. Her missing-person case is associated with NamUs MP118770.

The most substantial publicly reported investigative developments remain the 2024 homicide designation, searches of the Susquehanna Township residence and vehicles, examination of Scanlon’s benefits-card activity, and the extensive May 2024 search of the Little Conewago and Conewago creek corridors.

A Pennsylvania missing-person resource continued to list Scanlon in 2025, and current searchable missing-person indexes continue to associate her with NamUs MP118770. No reliable public announcement located through September 21, 2026 states that Scanlon’s remains have been recovered.

Likewise, no reliable public source located in this review reports that anyone has been charged with killing Scanlon.

The distinction is important: police have characterized the investigation as a homicide and have said they believe Scanlon is deceased, but the publicly available record does not establish where her remains are or precisely what happened to her after February 20, 2024.

Anyone with information about Tracy Scanlon’s disappearance should contact law enforcement rather than attempting to investigate individuals independently.
